Deep clean vs regular clean: what is the difference?
What a deep clean covers that a weekly clean does not, when it is worth booking one, and how the two work together.

"Deep clean" gets used a lot, but what does it actually include, and how is it different from a normal clean? Put simply, a regular clean maintains a home, while a deep clean resets it. Here is what each covers and when you need which.
What a regular clean covers
A regular clean is the weekly or fortnightly routine that keeps a home under control. It focuses on the surfaces you see and use every day: kitchen worktops and hob, bathrooms, dusting reachable surfaces, vacuuming and mopping floors and emptying bins. Our regular home cleaning in Thetford is built around exactly this.
What a deep clean adds
A deep clean goes top to bottom and gets to the places a regular clean does not have time for:
- Inside kitchen cupboards and drawers, with items taken out and put back
- Degreasing the extractor hood, tiles and splashbacks
- Descaling taps, shower heads, screens and tiles, and cleaning grout
- Skirting boards, door frames, doors and light switches throughout
- Radiators, light fittings and high dusting
- Behind and under furniture that can be moved safely
- Window sills and frames inside

When to book a deep clean
- Spring or before Christmas. The traditional reset before a busy season or visitors.
- Before starting regular cleaning. It brings the home up to a standard that regular visits can then keep.
- Before selling or after buying. A pre-sale clean helps photos and viewings. Moving into a new home is easier when it starts clean.
- After building work or decorating. Dust gets everywhere. That is a builders' clean, covered on our project and deep cleaning page.
- When life has got busy. New baby, illness, long working hours. Sometimes a home just needs catching up.

Add-ons that pair well with a deep clean
Ovens, carpets and sofas need equipment and time of their own. They can be booked alongside a deep clean through our specialist cleaning: oven cleaning from £50, carpet cleaning from £40 per room and fabric sofas from £55.
How the two work together
The most cost-effective approach for most homes is one or two deep cleans a year, with regular cleans in between. The deep clean resets everything, and the regular visits keep it there, which keeps each regular visit shorter. We explain how regular cleaning is priced in how much does a cleaner cost in Thetford.
Moving out rather than staying?
An end of tenancy clean is a deep clean of an empty property, done to the standard of the check-in inventory. See end of tenancy cleaning or our room by room checklist.
Our deep cleans are from £25 per cleaner, per hour, and we confirm the likely hours and price before we start. Ready to book? Ask for a deep clean quote with the size of your home and what you would like covered.
